Gyrfalcon's In Sacramento? Or Not! NOT!

Monday, our channel 13 news reported gyrfalcons here in the Sacramento, Rancho Cordova area. I immediately searched for the exact area, not mentioned on the news cast, and today Diane and I went to see if it was true. No it isn't ! We were told there were two adults and three fledglings. Today we only saw two fledglings. But, beautiful as they were, they were immature white-tailed kites. I, a poor photographer, only had a 200mm lens with a 1.7 teleconverter and wasn't able to get great photos. Frustrating! But with the raw format I was able to pull out these pictures. As you can see, they were white-tailed kite! In my earlier post I thought they were gyrfalcon's. I was corrected by Sam. He at least let me know and didn't leave me out there to hang. Thanks Sam! After further study I have to agree. They are still nice looking birds. Enjoy!

Hi Bob,

Sorry but not a gyrfalcon, but a white-tail kite, an immature.

Again, sorry.
